Back in the 1980's, the club formerly known as Yomiuri FC had two strikers who were proficient at scoring. One would come from the dirt fields of Brazil to become a national icon. The other would suffer a disastrous injury and find himself struggling to hang on in a Paraguay league that seemed a million miles away.
Today, Kazu Miura is in Australia preparing to open a new chapter in his J1 career as the leading man in the Yokohama FC story. The other striker, Nobuhiro Takeda, also prepares for a new J league season........as a member of Rui Ramos coaching staff for Tokyo Verdy.
6 years after appearing in his last game in green, Takeda becomes the latest in a long line of Verdy legends to coach for the old bird.
