Hammered?? ...Well what can we say about yesterday?? Hammered?? Thrashed?? Whipped?? Bullied?? Yes to all of the above. Embarrassed?? Humiliated?? A resounding NO. We were beaten by the (far) better team yesterday but can hold our heads up high in defeat.
I didnt think we played that badly yesterday just that Kashima were clinical in front of goal (to be fair could have had a few more)and we missed our chances. Hiramoto twice and Shibasaki were guilty of woeful finishing. Three times we missed the target completely when we should at LEAST have forced the keeper to make a save.
Kashima were able to pick us off with some superb passing and movement. The first two goals came from a long punt upfield from the keeper one bounce and a cool finish from the advancing striker. Our boys were up in arms about a possible offside but tv showed it wasn`t as when the ball bounced nobody got a touch. If Kashima player had knocked through to the striker then he would indeed have been a country mile offside, however no touch so completely safe goal. Didn`t stop Hirashitani going nuts on the bench though...
Goal number two a completely unmaked header from a corner. Coming just befroe the break this effectively killed the game. Second was an up and down affair, we kept at the task but as I said before it wasn`t our day. Kashima added two more, Oguro who had been introduced for the ineffective Iio at half time was getting a couple of long ranfers off but still pretty unimpressive. Kawano had also come on but again couldn`t produce much. The first of the second half showed Hattori up for the veteran that he is. The Kashima player put him on his arse when it looked like he would surely clear the ball.A few years back Im sure he would have got it but not now. New left back please. Taxi for Hattori!!!
I can`t remember the last goal, but it went in anyway, Diego got one back and nearly broke the net doing so. So a good beating, a spanking and no points. But hey, its FC Tokyo next up so lets forget about todays result and concentrate on giving the J Leagues "Officially Most Boring Team" a shoeing next week!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
